Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation

The Audiology Center delivers stellar hearing healthcare services to patients of all ages within Cumberland County and the surrounding communities.  We offer experienced professionals who value patients as individuals.  We provide assessment of hearing loss, balance disorders, and rehabilitative treatment.

Having a complete hearing evaluation is an easy and quick test procedure.  Our professional Audiology staff will conduct a comprehensive diagnostic hearing assessment in order to determine the type and severity of your hearing problem.  You will be asked questions about your medical and hearing history and a visual inspection of your ear canals and eardrums will be performed.  We provide assessment of hearing loss, balance disorders, and rehabilitative treatment.  Our Audiology Center provides testing for infants and young children.  Several methods can be used to test a child's hearing, depending on the child's age, development, or health status.  You will be seated in a sound-proof room and earphones will be placed in or over your ears.  You will be asked to listen to soft tones in each ear and indicate each time you hear the signal.  Your understanding of speech words will also be evaluated.  Special equipment may be used to further evaluate other important aspects of your hearing abilities.  At the end of the test, our Audiology staff will sit down with you and thoroughly explain the results to help you understand your hearing condition.

Hearing Aids

Our Audiologist dispenses state-of-the-art digital hearing aids and uses the most advanced, computerized procedures to individualize the fitting of hearing aids.  At the Audiology center, hearing aid options are thoroughly discussed with each potential patient based upon the results of a complete diagnostic test and the individual needs of each patient.

Dizziness and Balance Assessment

The Audiology center is equipped with an Electronystagmography (ENG) system, which aids in the diagnosis of vertigo and balance symptoms.  Our Audiology staff is extensively trained to perform and interpret the ENG test, which is essential in the diagnosis of peripheral versus central dysfunction.

Custom Ear Plugs

Our Audiologist provides custom ear plugs, ear pieces, and other products to protect and enhance hearing and facilitate communication.  These include custom products for musicians, personal listening devices (i.e. IPOD), and sports enthusiasts (i.e. swimmers, hunters, etc.)  In addition, we offer custom occupational ear pieces for aviators, dentists, physicians and nurses as well as for those who work in a noisy environment.

Please call our Audiology department with further questions at extension 244 or by e-mail: hearing@capefearoto.com
